Rahotu nowadays is just a small service town to the surrounding rural area. It is the western most town in Taranaki and has an active community.

History

Established in 1886.

 The anchor of the ship Harriet, wrecked nearby in 1834, is mounted outside the hotel. The military expedition to rescue crew members and the owner’s wife, Betty Guard, resulted in the first conflict between Māori and British troops.
