Egmont Village is a rural community located approximately 12km from New Plymouth, offering a relaxed country lifestyle within easy commuting distance of the city. Positioned on the main route to North Egmont and Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki, the village is well placed for those who enjoy the outdoors while remaining close to New Plymouth.

The community is particularly appealing to buyers looking for more space and a rural setting without sacrificing convenience. Local amenities include two café options, petrol station and store, along with Egmont Village School, a co-educational primary school catering for Years 1–8.

North Egmont Visitor Centre is approximately 16km away, providing access to walking tracks, recreational areas and the wider national park.

History: Egmont Village was named for the mountain which at the time was Mount Egmont. In 1986, the New Zealand Geographic Board officially listed the dual names of Mt Egmont and Mt Taranaki as interchangeable ways to refer to the mountain. In 2020 the mountain was renamed “Taranaki Maunga”.
